Grand Theft Auto IV is a 2008 open globe action-adventure video game, created by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. It was released for the PlayStation three and Xbox 360 on 29 April 2008, and for the Microsoft Windows on two December 2008. It is set in the fictional Liberty City, primarily based heavily on modern day New York City. The game follows Niko Bellic, a veteran of an unnamed war in Eastern Europe, who comes to the United States in search of the American Dream, but speedily becomes entangled in a planet of gangs, crime, and corruption. Like other games in the series, GTA IV is composed of components from driving games and third-person shooters, and attributes open globe gameplay, in which players can interact with the game world at their leisure. Grand Theft Auto IV also characteristics numerous on-line multiplayer modes.
